I am a furniture maker and a banjo player. My goal is to instill an appreciation of these traditional art forms and the traditional art process. In residencies, workshops, and demonstrations, I share my techniques and describe how the traditional art process informs and inspires my work. This sharing includes elements of history, cultural diversity, creative expression and a valuing of all traditional arts.

I have been involved with each of my art forms for over thirty years. I build fine furniture for private clients, and museum and gallery exhibitions. As a banjo player, I have often toured with my string band, "The Red Mules," and have performed in venues throughout the Eastern United States.

My craftwork has been recognized with Ohio Designer Craftsmen awards of excellence, Ohio Arts Council fellowships and grants to serve as a master artist to traditional arts apprentices. My band has won many top awards at music competitions including the Appalachian String Band Festival in West Virginia. The band's highest honor was our appearance at the Smithsonian Institution's Festival of American Folklife in 1996.
