I am an arts integration specialist. To me, learning objectives are launching pads for choreography. When collaborating with teachers and students to figure out classroom material, we often discover new composition tools and reasons for dancing. I enjoy creating performance events for unlikely places such as museums, school gymnasiums, libraries, gardens, construction sites, etc. I have danced with people age 6 months to 90+ years and even a troupe of "fly dogs" and their trainers. I appreciate all dance forms: social, sacred, classical, improvisational. When working with a group of participants, I encourage them to use all the movements they already know as well as learn new ones. Together we build a dance based on a particular topic either chosen by the group or in some way commissioned. Through the process, we develop physical technique, improvisation skills, and composition smarts.

I am the dance teacher at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C. I teach technique, improvisation and composition for 7th -- 12th graders. Additionally, I direct their performance events and coordinate dance festivals with other schools. Concurrently, I work as an adjunct artist with the Lerman Dance Exchange, also based here in D.C. I act as an educational resource for company projects, lead Critical Response Process workshops, and help coordinate international touring.

I completed my MFA at The Ohio State University in 1999. In addition, I have trained professionally with the following: Eric Franklin (biomechanics specialist), Chris Aikin (contact improvisation artist), Reggie Cabico (writer), Rinde Eckart (writer/actor), Bebe Miller (dancer), the Meredith Monk company (movement/vocal artist).
