Project Summary:  The Ohio Arts Council (OAC) is contacting Ohio artists who work in painting, drawing, pastel, printmaking, photography, and mixed media about an opportunity to loan their work for display to the Ohio Governor's Residence. Landscape and cityscapes that highlight the natural beauty of Ohio are requested. Only two-dimensional artwork is being considered due to space limitations.

Project Background and
Building History:
Since 1985 the OAC has assisted in placing artwork by Ohio artists and from the collections of Ohio museums and cultural institutions in the Governor's Residence. Governor and Mrs. DeWine, and their staff, appreciate the opportunity to promote and showcase the artworks of artists living and working in our state to the visitors of the Governor's Residence.

Mission of School or Site:  The program provides exposure for Ohio artists and the artworks from Ohio institutions and museums to the visitors of the Ohio Governor's Residence. The loan program also promotes the wide variety of artwork that is being created in our state and the vibrant artist communities located throughout Ohio. The program provides Ohio citizens, legislators, State of Ohio employees, and national and international guests the opportunity to view the artistic accomplishments of artists living and working in Ohio.

Artistic Goals of the
Commissioned Piece:
The Ohio Governor's residence is a Tudor style home built in 1925 and located in the historic neighborhood of Bexley, Ohio just a few miles east of downtown Columbus. The stone walls, beautiful woodwork, decorative ironwork and historic furnishings create a warm environment to display the featured works. Artworks including landscapes, still-life, or other subjects that will harmonize with the historic setting of the home will be considered for display at the Governor's Residence. Due to space limitations only two-dimensional works will be considered.

Practical Considerations:  Work should be available for a loan period starting June 2019 through June 2021. The work will be returned in July 2021. The work should be framed in a professional manner and ready to hang. Only two-dimensional work will be considered due to space limitations.
