Ohio Artists on Tour
Kathy Johnson's shows appeal to audiences of all ages. Her entertaining repertoire includes her own originals, folk, vintage country and cowboy songs, old rock and roll, and gems from the 1920's on up. This engaging redhead's voice is clear, warm and unique, and her shows - solo or with her trio - feature interesting material, witty commentary and a fun, straightforward style. Her originals range from the comic gender bender ''Well-Tanned, Hairy-Chested, Bare-Armed Men,'' to her thoughtful anthem ''A Little More Fair, A Little More Free,'' to the lovely nature-inspired ''It's Snowin' Tonight.'' Kathy's four critically acclaimed CDs have been played on radio in the US, Canada, Europe and New Zealand; her 2014 release was up for a Grammy. She has performed at festivals and clubs in the Eastern U.S. and Canada, including thirteen years at First Night Akron. She is an artist roster of The Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage.
''Warm and inviting' may be overused when describing folk singers, but in the case of Kathy Johnson, the phrase is perfect.' (Cleveland Free Times)
'Her songs are memorable, filled with wit, substance and humor...She has a way of grabbing ordinary moments and working them into something that everybody can relate to no matter what their background.' (Country Songwriter Magazine)
'Great Big Dreams is a modern masterpiece, with melodious lyrics and sophisticated arranging.' (Kabir Sehgal, Grammy-winning producer and New York Times bestselling author)
