Hailed as ''sensitive and tightly matched'' Baltimore Sun, with ''unforgettable chemistry,'' Classical Music in Columbus, Carpe Diem String Quartet has revitalized the chamber music experience for audiences of all ages. The quartet performs entertaining and innovative programs which integrate traditional, contemporary, and popular music. Noted for breaking musical boundaries, this ensemble has captured the imagination of its audiences and provides a truly worthwhile musical event. In high demand as recording artists, the award-winning members of Carpe Diem has recently completed recording the complete string quartets of Russian master Sergey Taneyev. In 2016 Carpe Diem has commissioned and will premiere three new works. - Native American Artist Leon Littlebird will write a work for string quartet and Native American flutes and percussion - Jazz artist John Gunther will compose a quintet for saxophone and string quartet for Carpe Diem entitled Anansi and the Sky God - Mandolinist Jeff Midkiff has been commissioned to write a new work for string quartet and mandolin In addition to chamber concerts, the quartet regularly performs educational outreach programs designed in conjunction with Ohio's K-12 standards of education. Programs and residencies can be tailored to suit your needs: interactive concerts, master classes, coaching sessions, and side-by-side performances.
