Project Summary:  The Ohio Arts Council in partnership with the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library and Friends of the Library present ''My Treasures are Within: 12th Annual Ohio Online Visual Artist Registry Juried Art Exhibition''. The three organizations have collaborated for more than a decade on this exhibition that highlights the work of artists on the Ohio Online Visual Artist Registry (OOVAR). The OOVAR is a database that showcases the work of more than 2,000 artists from Ohio and around the world.

Project Background and
Building History:
The OOVAR Juried Art Exhibition is open to all living Ohio artists, 18 years of age or older. Work must be original and executed within the past five years. OAC, CML and Friends of the Library employees are not eligible to apply.

The jury process is anonymous and is based on the work submitted for the Juried Exhibition.

Mission of School or Site:  The Juried Exhibition will be presented at the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library in the Carnegie Gallery from November 28, 2018 to January 12, 2019. Three Juror's Choice awards of $500 will be presented by the jurors and an award of $500 will be presented as the People's Choice Award. The People's Choice Award is selected by visitors of the exhibition and library patrons. Ballots are available at the Carnegie Gallery. The award funds are provided by the Ohio Arts Council and the Friends of the Library.

Artistic Goals of the
Commissioned Piece:
For the first time this exhibition has a theme. The theme ''My Treasures are Within'' is taken from the Main Library's front inscription which was taken from the letter awarding funding to the library by Andrew Carnegie. We would like artists to use this theme to present work that shares their vision of the treasures within themselves, their community, or their library.

Only work appropriate for display in a public building will be considered.

Artists may submit up to three separate artworks for consideration (a maximum of three images per artist may be submitted.) Selected work will be exhibited in the Carnegie Gallery of the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library for six weeks. The Library will facilitate a contact list of participating artists as well as a price list. Visitors interested in purchasing work should contact library personnel. Friends of the Library will receive 30% of any sales from the exhibition. Artwork must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.

Practical Considerations:  Call for Entry Process:
1. Register with the Ohio Online Visual Artist Registry if you are not already a participant. To register go to: http://www.ohioonlinearts.org/ and click ''register'' in the upper right corner.

2. After completing or updating your registry information you are now ready to begin the Call for Entry application process. First you must create a login for the Call for Entry site, if you have not done so previously (this is different than the OOVAR site) http://apps.oac.ohio.gov/grantsprogsx/currentcommissions.asp

There are helpful instructions for this process on the Current Commissions page for the Percent for Art program on the OAC website oac.ohio.gov.

3. After you have completed the online portion of the application please submit up to three (3) images in .jpg format by email to OAC.IndividualArtistOffice@oac.ohio.gov The images should be 520 pixels by 520 pixels and 72 dpi. If your images are not square please make the longest side 520 pixels.

Save your image files the following way: LnameFname_01_applicationnumber.jpg for example SmithJohn_01_1234.jpg Your four-digit application number will be at the top of the page once you begin the online application.

When emailing your images the subject line should read: 13th Annual Ohio Online Visual Artist Registry (OOVAR) Juried Exhibition

4. No more than three artworks may be submitted. Two dimensional and three-dimensional works are accepted and may not exceed 5' by 5'. Two-dimensional work must be wired and ready to hang and may not exceed 25 pounds each. Work must be dry. Submitted artwork does not have to be available for sale, but you must provide a value for each piece.

5. Accepted artwork is delivered/picked up at the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library at the second floor Adult Fiction/Reference desk. No adjustments can be made to the delivery/pick-up schedule; late submissions will not be accepted. Friends and family members may deliver/pick-up artwork if the artist is unavailable. Work must be delivered with appropriate packaging and protection material.

6. Liability and insurance: Every care will be taken for the safety of all works of art. CML, its officers and agents, will not be responsible for any loss or damage. CML does not insure entries. Works will be handled and exhibited at the artists' risk.

Selection Review Process:  In an effort to present exhibits of merit and significance, work must be evaluated by objective guidelines. Clearly, however, an artwork need not meet all of the criteria in order to be accepted for exhibition. When judging the quality of artwork submitted, several standards, and combinations of standards may be used, such as:

*Suitability of subject, technique and style for intended audience
*Vitality and originality
*Artistic expression and experimentation
*Creative and inventive use of the medium
*Innovation in style and/or concept
*Technical proficiency in the use of the medium/media

Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance the week of October 14, 2019. Notification will be made by email.
