Governor Kasich Appoints New Ohio Arts Council Board Members

Governor John Kasich has appointed James F. Dicke II of New Bremen and Robb Hankins of Canton to the Ohio Arts Council (OAC) board. Mr. Dicke and Mr. Hankins will serve terms ending July 1, 2017.
"I am very happy to welcome Mr. Dicke and Mr. Hankins to the OAC board and look forward to working with them," said Julie Henahan, executive director of the OAC. "They each bring not only knowledge of the arts to the table, but also an obvious commitment and concern for the artists and arts organizations in their communities, in Ohio and around the nation."
Mr. Dicke is chairman and CEO of Crown Equipment Corporation, a worldwide manufacturer and distributor of electric forklift trucks and material handling equipment, in New Bremen. Among many other community and business accomplishments, he is chairman emeritus of the Dayton Art Institute, an honoree of the National Academy of Design, and recently served on the Smithsonian National Board and as chairman of commissioners of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Mr. Dicke is an accomplished artist and photographer, an art collector and the 2007 recipient of the Governor's Awards for the Arts in the Arts Patron category.
Mr. Hankins is president and chief executive officer of ArtsinStark, Stark County's arts council. He has more than 30 years of experience working in city, county and state arts agencies in eight states, at which he has managed a variety of arts activities including arts festivals, public art projects, arts education programs and downtown arts districts. Mr. Hankins joined the staff of ArtsinStark in 2005, and the organization was the 2012 recipient of the Governor's Awards for the Arts in the Community Development & Participation category.
"Governor Kasich has hit two home runs with these fine individuals," said OAC board chair Jeffrey A. Rich. "Mr. Dicke is a legend in the Dayton community for his philanthropy and leadership, and Mr. Hankins is one of the premier arts executive directors in the nation."
