Governor Taft Appoints Ohio Arts Council Members

Governor Bob Taft has announced the reappointments of Martha Appel Burton and Charlotte P. Kessler and the appointment of Jeffrey A. Rich to the Ohio Arts Council (OAC) Board.

“We are very pleased with Governor Taft’s latest appointments to the Ohio Arts Council Board,” said Julie Henahan, OAC Interim Executive Director. “We’re delighted with Martha Appel Burton and Charlotte Kessler’s reappointments and know that Jeff Rich will bring similar talents and energy to the board.”

Martha Appel Burton, from Portsmouth, was reappointed for a term ending July 1, 2011. She has been a board member since 1991. Ms. Burton is a graduate of the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Lexington, KY. She is a member of the Ohio Historical Society Preservation Advisory Board.

Charlotte P. Kessler, from New Albany, was reappointed to her fourth term on the Ohio Arts Council for a term ending July 1, 2011. Ms. Kessler attended both Denison University and The Ohio State University. Ms. Kessler is a Life Trustee for Denison University, Chairman of the Arts Committee of the Columbus Foundation and a Member of the Board of Columbia Gas and the Wexner Center for the Arts Foundation.

Jeffrey A. Rich, from Dublin, was appointed to the Ohio Arts Council for a term ending July 1, 2011, replacing Michael Radcliffe, whose term expired. Mr. Rich has a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Ohio State University and a Juris Doctor degree from Cleveland State University Law School. Mr. Rich is an Attorney and Partner of Rich, Crites & Dittmer, LLC, and President of the Ohio Citizens for the Arts and its Foundation.

The Ohio Arts Council is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally and economically.
